Mindfulness In the Classroom

Mindfulness is a useful tool in the preschool classroom (and, I'd argue, any classroom.) I've met people who are opposed to the concept of "mindfulness" because they think this is derived from Hinduism practices; they might assume mindfulness is a type of religion. However, mindfulness is simply a way to be aware of your body and the way it responds to various stressors. It emphasizes breath, stillness, and space. These traits can be hard to find in a preschool classroom. But, the good news is there are many resources available to support young children regulate their emotions. I will be adding more resources over time, including YouTube videos, various breathing techniques, and some original child and adult yoga classes. But, in the meantime, here are a few of my favorite mindfulness videos.
